If you’re looking for local scratch cooking that isn’t afraid to get weird, set sail to Pirate Chips in the heart of Nanaimo, BC. Meet our quirky crew and try one of our unique menu items in the relaxed atmosphere of our downtown diner – we won’t judge you, and your taste buds will thank you!
Fans from out of town love us for our legendary deep-fried delights – like the deep fried Mac & Cheese and Nanaimo Bar – and locals know us as the best place for fresh local seafood in Nanaimo. With quality as the backbone of every one of our recipes, you can trust our food to make you and your family smile.
Pirate Chips was founded in 2003 by Angela Nodwell, a fourth generation Nanaimoite. Since then, this greasy spoon diner has achieved legend status in the Nanaimo community as THE place for feel-good food. While it’s not a fancy joint by any means, Pirate Chips stands out in the herd for its homemade food – prepared fresh every day – and fun, thoughtful service. Don’t worry, allergies can be taken care of as over half our menu is gluten-free. And we have vegetarian options too!
